About

Making Change Possible

Founded in 2020, Toledo's Juneteenth Celebration has made great impact thanks to the help of members and volunteers in the Toledo, OH community. The core of our work lies in the continuous passion and dedication we bring to the range of projects we take part in. Our most important mission within Toledo's Juneteenth Celebration is to tackle the issues surrounding mental health.  Bringing awareness and providing the help needed so we may function as a healthy and successful community.  Mental health problems indeed create a negative influence on families, children, safety, employment and  local economics. Racial/ethnic and gender minorities often suffer from poor mental health outcomes due to multiple factors including inaccessibility of high quality mental health care services, cultural stigma surrounding mental health care, discrimination, and overall lack of awareness about mental health. Many go without report and/or treatment. The consequences of mental illnesses in minority groups may be long lasting.
A recently published study by the American Psychological Association revealed that young adults with higher levels of education are significantly less likely to seek mental health services citing stigma, lack of knowledge, trust and cultural understanding as key barriers.
With that, we strive to continue promoting mental health care.  We'll achieve this by; having open community dialogs. Educating ourselves and others on the warning signs and symptoms of mental illness. Practice kindness and compassion.Promoting mental health screenings.Participating/Creating mental health awareness events. Developing a sense of meaning and purpose in life.
These steps and so many others will aid the community;Cope with the stresses of life. Encourage meaningful contributions within the community. Realize our full potential as a whole and individually and work productively.

Support our efforts to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

What We Do

Untitled

SUPPORTERS of CULTURE and GROUP ECONOMICS

We are a Culture and Group Economics supportive organization, meaning we believe in the ideology that people of minority class have common interests and should be unified through encouraging and strengthening the bonds of solidarity, in addition to pooling resources to establish economic power for the common good. This can be obtained by first acknowledging and then get to grips with mental health.

Economic Development and Entrepreneurship

The Kwanzaa principle, Ujamaa (Cooperative Economics), means to build and maintain our own stores, shops, and other businesses and to profit from them together as a community. We believe in recycling community dollars and reinvesting those dollars into others to start their own ventures, pushing each other forward.
